easy knit scarf pattern for beginners

An easy scarf knitting pattern is a fantastic way for beginners to practice knitting. The scarf is usually long enough to get good training and at the same time, the rows are short enough to not get bored. Usually, you will use only one pattern to knit up your scarf, but this is a bit more diverse project – you will use 6 different patterns.

To make this scarf I used patterns brought out in the post “25 simple knit stitch patterns for beginners”

To knit this scarf you will need:

  • 100 g (440 yards) of fingering weight yarn (I used Malabrigo Sock “Violeta Africana” SW808)
  • knitting needles size 3 mm / US 3 / UK 10

1 pattern repeat is about 12 cm (4,8 inches) long. The whole scarf is 135 cm (53 inches) long and about 20 cm (8 inches) wide.

Abbreviations used:

  • RS – right side;
  • WS – wrong side;
  • k – knit;
  • p – purl;
  • st(s) – stitch(es);
  • rep – repeat;

    Knitting this scarf now and found a small error in Pattern 2…for me to get the pattern to work correctly, I knit rows 6 and 8 …
    K4, P3 (P3, K6, P3), rep to last 7 stitches P3, K4.

    So added P3 before the pattern beginning on these two rows, otherwise love this scarf and it knots up really fast.

    I’m using Red Heart Soft and size US8/5mm needles.
