Prelude for the knit lace shawl pattern “Cobweb of Life”
“Cobweb of life creates unknown patterns. Sometimes it forms droplets of tears, and sometimes leaves with its embellishments and flourishes. It all depends on how you look…”
One ball of lightweight cobweb yarn is all you need for this delicate and enriched shawl. “Cobweb of Life” is a gorgeous rectangular shawl that has 3 different lace patterns.
First, you knit the lower edging of the shawl in an airy pattern embellished with nupp stitches. Then you proceed with the complimentary side edges framing the mesh of light Estonian lace (with nupps of course). Finally, the upper lace border gives this romantic beauty a charming finishing touch.
Treat yourself today and allow yourself to dive into a world of elegant Estonian lace. You’ll be addicted!
The pattern has both written instructions and charted instructions.

How this knitting pattern was born?
Initially, I was thinking of making a wedding shawl, but as those things go, my inspiration came from another place entirely.
Do you know the feeling when your firstborn is moving out? The school is over and now she’s ready to spread her wings. You’re kind of happy and excited for her, and at the same time want to lock her up in the basement and never let go.
Or maybe that’s only me 🙂
So, this pattern is a cobweb of life. Nupp’s are the twists, turns, and life’s endless surprises. Increases and decreases are made of dreams and reality. This all together forms a delicate pattern of cobweb lace called life, and the story yet to be told…
I never knew that I would be taking my daughter moving out this hard. Only the thought of it hit me with the strength of a tornado, sweeping me off my feet and bringing up memories I didn’t know I have. I remember all too clearly the night she was born and that one time she, at the age of 10, told me that she will never move out 😀
Thinking back of last months, I realize, the way things were heading it would have been a disaster in every way. But it wasn’t meant to be. Life tends to throw curveballs, slapping you in the face with the reality and perspective, and all you can do is watch it with an aw, head spinning and mouth wide open…
Our family got hit with the COVID – in a way that my husband and daughter ended up in hospital (all went well for us, thank god). Everything fell in its place – I wanted my daughter to move out, see this beautiful world with all its wonders, and experience all the flavors that life has to offer. And the day when my daughter came back home, healthy and well, was a moment this pattern, this cobweb of life, was born… 🙂
The story of life, like any story, has a framework. But unlike a fairytale, the story of life hasn’t got clear cut and crisp edges. It has curves, waves, and twirls keeping you on your toes never knowing what’s around the corner.
Story of life flows creating unknown patterns of life. Sometimes it forms droplets of tears, sometimes leaves with its own embellishments and flourish. It all depends on how you look…
