First of all, before you start to knit – choose the pattern for your yarn and make a swatch. I know, I’m sorry. There’s so many different vases (and candles) so I can’t give you one pattern to fit all, but I’ll tell you how to use these patterns on any vase (and you have to knit it once)…
So, you have your swatch – measure one pattern repeat. Now measure the circumference of your vase. How many pattern repeats you’ll have to make to fit the vase measurements? – This will give you your cast on
For example – my vase is 30 cm and my one pattern repeat is 4 cm. My pattern repeat will fit 7 times BUT I need some more, so I add one more pattern repeat. So – my pattern repeat is 12 stitches 8 times = 96 stitches.
Does it make sense?
Here’s the thing – next time what I would do differently is I would use thicker yarn for all the patterns. White vase sleeve is with thinner yarn and it’s starting to curl.
Note! White and red vase covers are knitted from top down (or other way around), grey cover is knitted from side to side.
Oh by the way – sorry about bad pictures. It’s getting dark so soon…

You present your instructions so very well. I have done cables but there are always fine points to learn.
Hi I am new some what to knitting I don’t know how to knit by a chart
Can you give a row by row of cast on how many and what size needle and keep be of yarn
Thank you so much
A printable pattern please
I don’t have a clear answer for you, sadly, but I can help you out.
1. Choose your yarn and check which needles it is recommended to use.
2. Knit a swatch with that yarn using the pattern you like, and maybe do 2 pattern repeats.
3. Measure the vase, and calculate how many pattern repeats you will need to knit.
*If you want to try the first pattern (grey one) then it’s easy – cast on 40 stitches and work the pattern as long as needed according to your vase*
I hope this was helpful.
If you need help calculating then I can help you. Give me a circumference of your vase, and measurements of your swatch, and I will give you a number of stitches you need to cast on.
