Do you remember the post where I told you I am designing a shawl for Mothers Day? The one with cable edging with twisted trim? I would say it was part one.
Well, now comes the part two – lace pattern with “nupps”.
If you’re interested in the actual knitting pattern for a Mother’s Day lace shawl then you can find it here:
I wanted the lacy part to repeat itself to match the lace next to cable and I wanted to elaborate the cable trim with “nupp” pattern. “Nupp” pattern needed to be light and springy. For me, it reminds me of Lily of the Valley. I don’t know… What do you think?
Here is the pattern. Written instructions as well as chart, as always.
NOTE: First 3 and last 3 stitches are edge stitches and should be always knit. I didn’t do this on my swatch and the edges started to curl.
* If you want to use this pattern for wider projects (like a scarf) then you can repeat the middle part two or three times. That would be part between * * in a total of 18 stitches for one repeat.
Abbreviations:
k – knit;
YO – yarn over;
k2tog – knit 2 stitches together;
ssk – slip 1, slip 1, knit slipped stitches together;
nupp – peek here for tutorial of “nupp” stitch;
Cast on 34 (6 for edges and 28 for pattern) stitches and knit 1 row.
Start with the pattern.
