Yes, I really am knitting for Christmas. And why? Because last year I started too late.
I’m fixing my mistake now.
I’ve been drooling over those tiny Christmas stockings you can use on your table setting for a few years now, and I never realized – I could knit it myself you know…
Well, I did knit it, I was quite happy with it and now am sharing the pattern with you.
You’ll need:
- size 4 mm / US 7 double pointed needles or circular needles
- 15 g (30 yards) of white 10 ply / aran / worsted yarn – I used DROPS Nepal
- 36 g (60 yards) of red 10 ply / aran / worsted yarn
- cable needle
Abbreviations:
- dpns – double pointed needles;
- sts – stitches;
- cn – cable needle;
- k – knit;
- p – purl;
- 4/4 CL – put 4 sts on cn and hold in front, knit next 4 sts from LH needle, and then knit 4 sts from cn;
- ssk – slip, slip, knit together through back loops;
- k2tog – knit 2 together;
Cast on and ribbing:
Cast on 44 stitches with white and divide your stitches between 4 dpns (if you use them).

So cute! Can’t wait to make some. They would look good with a folded napkin tucked in behind the silverware, too 🙂
It’s a fantastic idea, Hannelore 🙂
