I know it’s Friday and you are expecting a pattern from history. Surprise… not today. Today we are knitting a dishcloth.
If you don’t know what I’m referring to then check out this page: https://pattern-duchess.com/patterns/pattern-from-history/
I got little bored with decoding (and I’m also lazy), so I thought we could actually knit something from those patterns. I had a box of cotton yarn lying around (no, it’s not weird to have a box of yarn for emergencies) and my kitchen desperately needed a color. Didn’t have too much time, so washcloths it is.
I picked a pattern from 1990. This one. And used DROPS Muskat (turquoise) – just look at that color.
I think this pattern is perfect for dishcloths because it isn’t too smooth. Sometimes you just have to really scrub the dishes, and washcloths with texture are better this way. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you?
By the way, you may want to knit dishcloth dress too – check that free pattern here…
Here is the pattern:
*Abbreviations are below*
Using DROPS Muskat and needles size 3,5 mm (US 4) cast on 35 stitches.
Rows 1 to 3: knit;
Row 4: k3, (p2, YO, ssk, p3, k2tog, YO) rep 3 times total, p2, k3;
Row 5: k5, (p2, k3, p2, k2) rep to last 3 sts, k3;
Row 6: k3, (p2, k7) rep 3 times total, p2, k3;
Row 7: k5, (p7, k2) rep to last 3 sts, k3;
Repeat rows 4 to 7 in total of 12 times (I made 11 repeats, and it’s not a perfect square so…).
Knit 3 rows and cast off.
Hide the yarn ends and do the dishes 😀

Hi Marillis,
I finished the shawl I was working on, I will be washing it and blocking it this weekend. Now I am working on a baby blanket for one of my daughter’s friends.
You are so quick – I thought about baby blanket too (for my next project)… I don’t know where I put it though, no babies in my connections…
