Simple basic pleats for edging

I am still inside of a knitted edging theme (remember the “Diamond of the Island”?). I know many of you are interested in knitting some simple pleats. Something easy and doable.

Here you go :

I think these pleats are so easy to knit. Just knit and purl stitches + turning. Before trying something more elaborate, try this.

Instructions:

Cast on 24 stitches.

Row 1: k;
Row 2: p16, turn, k16;
Row 3: p16, k8;
Row 4: k8, p16;
Row 5: k16, turn, p16;
Row 6: k;

Repeat as long as you need.

k – knit;

p – purl;

Now show me yours 🙂

    Thank you so much, I have just done your pleats. I can’t believe how easy they are to knit but are very effective. I am using them to make clothes for my knitted little toys .

      I’m glad you liked it. I had the same feeling when I first learned to do those pleats. Amazing 🙂

    Thank you. I made outfits for knitted dolls I have made for my twin great-nieces – I made pleated skirts using your pattern. Wish I could share a photo
