Today I’m going to show you how to knit a lace scarf and this is for absolute beginners. If you already know the basics of lace knitting then just scroll down, find the instructions, and start knitting. But if you are a beginner then come with me – you’re going to love this journey 🙂
NB! There are instructions on how to knit this pattern as a shawl instead of a scarf down below
Now, the lace pattern we’re going to try has a pattern repeat of 10 stitches over 12 rows, and the wrong side rows are purl rows (except the edge stitches). We will do 3 repeats for the scarf. And here’s how it will look like:
To knit this lace scarf you will need:
- 100 g of fingering or sport weight yarn (I use DROPS Alpaca)
- 3 mm / US 2.5 knitting needles (I prefer needles made of wood)
- (optional) 5 stitch markers – 2 in one color, 3 in another color
You can use any yarn you like. Just make sure you’ll follow the recommended needle size on the yarn label.
Abbreviations:
- st(s) – stitch(es);
- RS – right side;
- WS – wrong side;
- k – knit;
- p – purl;
- yo – yarn over;
- k2tog – knit 2 together;
- ssk – slip, slip, knit together;
If you are a beginner then see this video tutorial and knit with me:
