Do you remember my lace edging with twisted trim? I have received questions (in comments and by email) about how to knit mitered corners with twisted cables. I didn’t know the answer then, but this problem is fixed now.
I think I haven’t made something so challenging for a while. I made four swatches (three went to garbage because my brain sent the error with “program not responding” message) and spent 3 hours on each. And if I’m being totally honest then I don’t want to see any knitted lace corners in my near future… PLUS, I’m not entirely satisfied (this means that I’m going to redo it someday).
I’m not going to lie to you – this is not easy. You’ll have to pay close attention and it is hard to follow. But it’s doable.
Just take your time and don’t rush. Print it and use bookmark of some kind, if you have to. And ask, if something is confusing (I may have typing errors – I hope I don’t have but it may be a possibility, so forgive me).

Now, if you made it this far then I congratulate you! There’s also a corner instruction for the “Diamond of the Island” lace border HERE. Enjoy!
Is this a scarf or a swatch?
This is more like a swatch and addition to cable edging here: https://pattern-duchess.com/knit-cable-edging-with-twisted-trim-and-lace/
I want to use your beautiful cable edging on a baby blanket I’ve been asked to make. I haven’t decided on a pattern yet, but I want it to be more or less square and I want the cable edging on all four sides. I understand how to knit the sides as I go and how to pick up the cast on and bind off edges to add it there, but I am worried about the corners. Seems to me that I could just continue the right side edge over the top and meet up with the top left corner, but then what? And how would I handle the bottom corners from the cast on edge so that they join up neatly with the already-knit sides? Would a provisional cast on help?
Actually, I’m not sure. I think cast on should be quite flexible. I would maybe even use the crochet cast on…
