“Spring Shawl” update #1
All my designs are like a haunting melody on the back of my neck. It will start out as a whispering tune. Sometimes it fades, and sometimes it will turn into a magnificent piece of art filling my heart and soul.
If I manage to hold on to its tail long enough…
This is the whispering faze that is about to form a quiet voice. There is only one word formed. Spring.
Until there are no other words, it will have to be the name – “Spring Shawl” 🙂
“Spring Shawl” update #2
Remember last time I told you I was hearing voices? OK, not voices. Music…
Music that was so quiet only I could hear…
It’s getting louder (but not loud enough for me to hear the whole thing, yet):
I do love the color of that yarn (and the “feel”). Beautiful summery tone. It’s Coral of DROPS Flora (uni color 19), in case you’re wondering 🙂
“Spring Shawl” update #3
I think I’m in love with that yarn. My shawl should be quite heavy by now, but it isn’t. And it doesn’t make me sneeze (I’m a bit allergic to wool).
As you can see, I did one more repeat of the pattern from last time (I think we can call it a chorus). I have to think about the top part of the shawl. I hope that music will go louder because I don’t want this shawl to be another U.F.O (U.F.O -> unfinished object).
“Spring Shawl” update #4
It’s getting hard to take pictures, but I’ll try:
As you can see, I added little something to the upper-middle part too. I just had that feeling that it would be awesome. Like a duet…a beautiful love song…
I think I’m happy with it at the moment.
“Spring Shawl” update #5
Next time will be the last time for this shawl (I think) but until then…
What I love the most so far, is how the middle part on the top is coming out:
And wider overview:
And yes, I’m working on the pattern – there’s hope 🙂
“Spring Shawl” update #6
I wasn’t too sure about the finishing edge. After all those twists and turns, this ending seemed too… looking for a better word… modest(?). But the more I look at it, the more I like it.
Maybe, just maybe… some nupps on the ending lace? Or not? Yes, it would be too much…
You know what? I’ll give myself a week, try to finish writing this pattern, and see if I change the ending or not.
“Spring Shawl” update #7 – DONE
As you can see I left the top edge the way it was. I like it. It kind of grew on me.
Looking good, pretty colour too. I love the plait edging you use on your shawls I really need to try it . I want to make a blanket with it on the edge.
Yes, I’m back for Switzerland – it was brilliant and the scenery was WOW!
Tina x
I think a blanket would be fantastic with this edge.
I would love to visit Switzerland… Someday I will (when kids are grown) 😀
Beautiful or rather say, gorgeous.
Thank you, Nilda 🙂
I really like this design. Beautiful color – I am ready for Spring too.
I love this color too 🙂
I really love the look of Spring Shawl so far. It is beautiful & I already know I would love to make one too. I especially love your colour choice.
Thanks, Lorraine 🙂 We’ll see what comes next – it can go either way 😀
How do you knit the edge?
It’s just a simple cable on the edges. Check this post out: https://pattern-duchess.com/how-to-start-knitting-triangle-shawl-with-twisted-trim-cable-edging/
I really like the lace pattern & I love to make one too.
Thanks 🙂 I like it too so far. Soon it will be finished, and available for everyone 🙂 (I hope)
I love that Spring Shawl design!!!

Thanks, Pauline 🙂 I hope to finish it soon 🙂
Great creativity and wonderful ” whispers” for Spring!
Thanks, Carol 🙂
Is beautiful. Do you have pattern details?
Thanks, Alison 🙂 I don’t have a pattern written out yet – I’m writing as I work through it, and hopefully I’ll finish it soon enough 🙂 All my subscribers will be first ones to know.
