In my newsletter, I promised you a pattern for crochet snowflakes and here it is (see the video tutorial down below). These snowflakes are small ones (and very easy to make). Only 2 rounds.
Before you start:
- you should know how to make a chain, slip stitch, and make double crochet;
- you’ll need some thread and crochet hook + scissors and needle for hiding yarn ends;
Note!
- if you don’t know how to make magic loop then just chain 5 and slip to form a ring;
- for first dc (double crochet) of the round ch3 (chain 3);
- picot – chain 3 and slip stitch into last dc you made;
Let’s crochet some snowflakes now:
Step 1: Make a magic circle and into this make *dc, ch 1* 10 times (remember – for 1st dc and ch1, simply make ch4); join.
Step 2:ย Slip stitch into 1st ch1 space (last round), [*3dc, (ch-3 and join for picot) 3 times, 3dc* into same space, ch-3 and join for picot], then skip next ch1 space from last round and work into the second ch1 around, repeating 5 times; join.ย (Thank you, Lee, for helping me with the words๐)
Cut yarn and wave in all yarn ends.
I hope everything is clear enough. I haven’t really made many crocheting instructions, so any suggestions are welcome. I think I could use a little help.
Please state sz of hook and thread used.
Hi Linda, I used different kinds of hooks, but mostly size 2,5mm hook is used and different threads to go with that.

I wish that your little video would not
go so fast. I know how to do picots, but
it doesn’t come out looking right. It is
such a pretty snow flake, I want to do
it correctly. Have you ever tried doing
individual pictures of each step of round
2? Wishing you did.
I’ll put it in my to-do list and try to make a video for this post.
Works up so beautifully! Thank you!
Iโm new at crocheting, I can follow a video but thatโs too fast for me, wish you had a video. These would make great gifts for my grandkids.
I’ll try to do a video for these snowflakes ๐
What size hook did you use
I’m sorry, I don’t remember. I chose the thread and then chose the hook according to that.
Thanks for the pattern! I like the small ones and
they work up so fast! Loved the video as it gives
just the right stitches in the right places. I’ve also crocheted for quit a few years???
Love this pattern. Making a garland for the Christmas tree today
Love love love this pattern! Easy to follow and adorable. Exactly what o was looking for.
